Now, as a consequence, I share more or less the same opinion with you that if all table saws now should have something like a flesh detector, not all hobbyists would be able to afford them.ryobi table sawshttp://bandsawsonsale.info/planer/ryobi-planer-blades-interrelated-roadmap/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-29456766153733610502010-09-24T20:25:59.401-04:002010-09-24T20:25:59.401-04:00You're not alone, Graybeard. That's where the tendency to prep and bunker down comes from, I think: if we can't do anything to actually prevent the looming catastrophe, at least we can work to secure our own lives against it.Natehttp://gunsandbullets.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-83247681336706931622010-09-16T18:30:47.077-04:002010-09-16T18:30:47.077-04:00Joe - I am also very concerned that we are heading...Joe - I am also very concerned that we are heading for option 2 at a really high rate.

Mark - guess I wasn't clear that I meant the GPS I was talking about with lower requirements was for a hobbyist or inside your car, not for a military receiver. For military systems, no compromise. For one you'll carry with you, Garmin, Trimble, Magellan and the other low cost companies aren't going to rate them for -55 to 100C.

Anonymous, Re: the hollow state and resilient tribes. I guess I had always considered those ideas were pretty much for after the collapse. Guess I need to read some more and widen my mind a little.

Weetabix - I'm more in favor of "sunsetting" laws. Every law has an expiration date and has to be re-justified again. As it is, bad laws never go away. They just keep on rotting. Problem with capping it is that right now it's too big. It has to be pared back quite a bit, by my understanding.

Finally - to all: thanks for stopping by and commenting. I was pleasantly surprised to see this thread picked up so widely. Guess it hit a nerve for a lot of other bloggers and got spread around a bit. I consider this one of the big, central problems of our time, and it's gratifying to see so many others apparently do as well.SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-31035315723819429172010-09-16T10:15:23.970-04:002010-09-16T10:15:23.970-04:00What if we capped the CFR at a specific number of ...What if we capped the CFR at a specific number of pages per capita?Weetabixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06106614092497408546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-71985677117624470412010-09-16T08:27:48.642-04:002010-09-16T08:27:48.642-04:00I would note that if you're a buck private in ...I would note that if you're a buck private in the Army out in Ragheadistan relying on your GPS to help you keep your head, you MIGHT prefer that said GPS actually WORK in the "worst of the Sahara."
