To fix that we need a constitutional amendment that gives a free press the right to investigate and report the truth without fear of retribution. Oh wait! We have that. But sadly our free press has become an arm of the political party(s).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-86426790386746689512015-11-23T20:56:59.242-05:002015-11-23T20:56:59.242-05:00Anon - I'm with you on pretty much all of that...Anon - I'm with you on pretty much all of that. The process sucks. The corruption and cronyism is inescapable.

I think it was in the early days of the bidding for the new tanker that a Boeing CFO offered a job to Pentagon officer that he was working opposite. Boeing was fined and ended up firing him while she broke laws as a .Gov employee and went to jail. Quality people.

I've seen contracts for weapons systems split between competing states so that they could get more pork spread around and more congress critters to vote for them.

Nothing new, I suppose.

SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-59173834340420209112015-11-23T11:01:17.091-05:002015-11-23T11:01:17.091-05:00I am pro-military having served for 20 years. So I don't say this lightly; The process for large defense contracts is corrupt. The generals on active duty are to some extent bribed by all contractors and the generals who have retired and are good friends with the generals on active duty are hired by the contractors to shmooze the generals who make the decisions. "MAYBE" the decisions are still made correctly, I can't in general speak to that. BUT there is a lot of corruption in the process and it isn't all in the Pentagon. Congress also gives and gets money and so much more handed back and forth freely. A strong congressman from the right district can kill or make a contractor.

One of the best military airplanes in use today is the A10 and it is being phased out as generals, contractors and congressmen drool at the prospect of future payola. The A10 should be expanded for the benefit of military strength and it is being phased out to benefit a few well placed powerful people. The system stinks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-15611314980287607212015-11-23T09:34:00.339-05:002015-11-23T09:34:00.339-05:00When buying and selling are controlled by legislat...When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators.
P.
