Well, Whaddya Know

About five weeks ago, Florida Governor DeSantis  made it clear he wanted to pass Constitutional Carry in the state.  He even went so far as to call on incoming House Speaker Paul Renner, publicly making him responsible.

He laughs and says, “well, we’ve had a majority this whole time. I’ll let Paul answer that because I’m ready. [looking over to incoming House Speaker Paul Renner] Are you going to do it?”

Paul Renner responded with a “yes.”

Let’s break down the Governor’s statement quickly. He didn’t just say he supports Constitutional Carry, he politically called out the Republican-controlled legislature for its collective failure to pass during prior sessions.

This morning brought an email from Florida Carry.

In one little meeting, DeSantis demonstrated to the state that he knows that the population wants this, Stupid Party members campaign on delivering it, and once in office, the Stupid Party is the one that kills it.  He says it's time to cut the crap and do what they've promised.  He told the truth in the motto he uses frequently, "clear, concise, unambiguous" and called on the incoming speaker to be better than his predecessor.

  1. Hoping for the best for you all, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
If the GOPe in every state wasn't a bunch of gutless douchenozzles when it counts, we wouldn't be where we are on so many things.

    1. I've been conflicted on the chances since the first mention back in December. The other side is the tourism industry and their mortal fear someone from a gun control paradise might cancel a trip because they saw a gun being openly carried. They swing a lot of money around in the state and buy lots of influence.

    2. I think Constitutional Carry is different from open carry. I personally would never open carry since they are the first to be taken out by the bad guys with guns.

    3. Re: people from gun control states not traveling....

I find it interesting that people never seem to worry about those from "free" states not traveling to places that restrict their rights. I know plenty that won't travel to places like NY, CA, etc... solely because of their laws on concealed carry.

  3. Constitutional Carry is unrestricted carry, open or concealed, no permit required.

This is just no permit concealed carry.

I'll take the incremental improvement, but I want more than the frosting from my missing cake back.

    I want campus carry.

I want open carry just to stick a sharp stick in the eyes of the asshole law enforcement in SE Florida who call accidental exposure brandishing.

Google can't seen to remember to keep me logged in...

    1. They've been doing that to me, too. Sometimes, the option to choose my account isn't even available. I usually have to close the browser tab and start over again.

      Google is being annoying.

    2. Google is merely trying to catch up with Facebook and Twitter!

    3. No open carrying without a permit in Alabama.

  4. I agree with Angus. This is fee-less permit carry. Wonder how expensive the rest of the processing fees will be (like fingerprints et al.) Wonder if jackwagon leftist counties like Alachua will still find a way to screw over the applicant.

DeSantis has been talking signing Full Constitutional Carry since he got elected and the legislature dropped FCC several times. He's just gotten much more vocal about it.

As to why I want to open carry? I'm selfish. I don't want to wear multiple layers in the armpit-steampit of where I live that has absolutely no cooling sea breezes. Right now if I try to go concealed carry the sweat outlines would print.

Mongo want open carry. Mongo don't care about tourist wimps anyways.

Plus studies show places that open carry don't lose tourist money, actually gain tourist money because visitor safety rises as more people carry. Remember all the scares over passing CCW? The billboards on I-10, I-75 and I-95 and outside airports that said "Welcome to the Gunshine State" that were meant to scare tourists? Big flop, big big flop. Actually made Florida more touristy.

Right now the thing killing tourism in Kissimmee is The Rat's advocacy of leftist agendas. Which is why park attendance has gone down everytime The Rat tries to fight DeSantis.

    1. I believe the FL Supreme Court just ruled that the fines for counties and localities, and the local officials responsible for violating the state preemption laws on firearm regulation will put an end to that.

  5. In Arizona, which is second only to Alaska apparently, no permit concealed open carry, silencer is a $200 stamp.

  7. I would merely note that, while the GOP controls the State House and Senate, SOME of those GOP are from South Florida, which has no use for privately owned weapons.
