Weather permitting we'll do two 30s this weekend.

Love riding, do it as much as we can but 40 miles is my longest to date. 20 and 30 mile rides when possible, dash out nearly every chance for whatever I can get (7.5 - 12 mi. typically). Those are mad dashes. Have a stationary that I use reqularly when the weather is foul or in the evening (don't like riding at night, too much debris on the roads).

The Bride and I rarely get passed by anybody anywhere near our age group. It's kind of the same thing as what I'm talking about.

In my mind, it's just get back on the bike and go. My brain will say, "it's only 25 miles, I've ridden that hundreds of times" when the reality is that I couldn't ride that long without building up to it.

As a friend of mine says, "they'd have to use the "Jaws of Life" to cut that bike seat out my ass".

SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-72264783887710325762014-07-31T21:45:27.638-04:002014-07-31T21:45:27.638-04:00In my adult youth I lived and worked in Europe for...In my adult youth I lived and worked in Europe for 4 years. If you ever want to see old men make a fool of themselves take out a soccer ball and start kicking it around. They come out of the woodwork and try to relive their youth. Old men, fat men, half crippled men will fall and slip in the wet grass for a chance to prove they can still kick a goal or pass the ball. I am 71 now and used to run and lift weights. I had to give up running some years back due to reoccuring injuries/pain. But I walk/hike and still enjoy life within my limits. I miss it. I feel like one of those old men on some beach in Italy falling and slipping to prove I can still do it. Youth is wasted on the young.
