I'd never heard of these guys. Looked him up and just found a video where they're showing off their shop-made sorta-Briggs&Stratton 4 cylinder. I'm blown away.
SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-10351137884367657392021-03-18T18:38:13.549-04:002021-03-18T18:38:13.549-04:00Sig, a youtuber called 805ROADKING does a lot of ...Sig, a youtuber called 805ROADKING does a lot of interesting things with small gasoline engines, including changing a Briggs and Stratton into a hit or miss engine. He is always interesting to watch. They are lots of fun. I happen to prefer the "06" it looks good, and has far more graceful flywheels.
Good Luck!Skwabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08713580657743464156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-80181254066698569212021-03-18T08:45:55.112-04:002021-03-18T08:45:55.112-04:00I too have a respect for the dangers of steam. Using junk wood you get a lot of tar and such, hard to filter, harder on your valves. Charcoal already reduced off the tars and such so less muss.

Generally you lose about 25% of your effective horsepower with wood gas. I know a guy that drives a V8 pickup that uses wood gas. Also has a Honda generator running off it.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05329176313885665469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-91329250164578850332021-03-18T08:00:05.683-04:002021-03-18T08:00:05.683-04:00Do you mean something that gasifies wood, or a boi...Do you mean something that gasifies wood, or a boiler that burns wood to generate steam?

I guess the answer is the same - no I haven't. I have that 1989 FEMA report where they build a gasifier and mount it on a tractor.

I have a fear of boilers. Hot steam can seriously eff you up, and boilers can explode. It's old tech, but boilers are not to be taken lightly. I need to study that subject.

This video is a good example of the useful tech, but difficult for me to watch. Too much movement of the camera without stopping the video every few seconds to look at what he's talking about.
SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-21837473123926850452021-03-18T06:18:04.973-04:002021-03-18T06:18:04.973-04:00Interesting hobby SiG, have you built a charcoal f...Interesting hobby SiG, have you built a charcoal fueled wood-gas generator yet? Would be super cool to have a little powerplant powered by your own storm damage tree limbs?Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05329176313885665469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-59484836601224424702021-03-18T00:29:09.372-04:002021-03-18T00:29:09.372-04:00Too cool, SiG!Too cool, SiG!drjimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05647484115197408897noreply@blogger.com
