I use the "warm" LED bulbs in some rooms, and the "daylight" ones in the garage.

The only LCD screen scopes I've used are the little Tektronix TDS series. We had dozens of them all over the ships at Sea Launch.

I'd prefer an older "portable" HP Spec A, but they hold their value quite well!drjimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05647484115197408897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-90242496009152022032018-12-06T10:59:19.500-05:002018-12-06T10:59:19.500-05:00They're stunning in the garage!
That's r...They're stunning in the garage!

That's really a good word. As soon as I walk in the shop it's immediately noticeable how much brighter it is in that corner. We had the same impression with the LED bulbs we put in the kitchen 18 months ago. I put in three bulbs as an experiment (out of 7) to see how the light compared to the halogen bulbs, and as soon as I turned on the switch, my wife said, "OK, order the rest".

Re: the Siglent, I'm happy with it. The build quality looks good and while I confess to telling myself "it's an oscilloscope, of course I know how to use it", the manual has gotten me out of trouble a few times. EEVblog did a thorough takedown and review video here.

While researching, I had come to the conclusion that Rigol was the brand name that had the most fans, but Siglent was a "rising contender". Someone (probably Siglent) put together a list of specs comparing this 200 MHz Rigol to the Siglent, and you could see it looked like the Siglent guys went down the list and said they were going to beat the Rigol on certain specs. The biggest difference is the Rigol (DS1104) has four channels vs. two for the Siglent. I'm OK with a two channel scope. The Siglent actually beats the Rigol on most everything and was quite a bit cheaper.
SiGraybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00280583031339062059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-42716743009373907032018-12-06T02:32:25.898-05:002018-12-06T02:32:25.898-05:00This is the first place I've relied exclusivel...This is the first place I've relied exclusively on LED lighting. There were so many burned out/missing/wrong wattage bulbs here I added them up, and went to Home Depot to get replacements.

They're stunning in the garage! I have a couple of single tube 48" LED fixtures, and they light the place up better than daylight!

And since I only have ONE 15 Amp circuit for the garage, I watch the current draw on everything like a hawk. These draw an amp, and make "10 Amps" worth of light.

How do you like the Siglent scope? Specifically, how's the build quality and the documentation? I'm thinking of getting a new spectrum analyzer, and their stuff seems to get good reviews.drjimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05647484115197408897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1592992209402300549.post-78579669267038389262018-12-05T22:14:21.886-05:002018-12-05T22:14:21.886-05:00I think you need to move next door to me and allow...I think you need to move next door to me and allow me to be your slave/apprentice.LLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05538854359365988863noreply@blogger.com
