Is It Malice or Stupidity?

I'm sure you all know the old saying, "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity".  In a way this goes with the saying, "once is an accident, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action".

While the whole Fed.Gov seems to compete intensely for the title, few would argue FEMA could claim to be the most incompetent agency in the country.  They were the target of the media's attempts to destroy George W. Bush after Katrina, right?  They're not better now, the "thrill up the leg" media just doesn't report on it since The One is in office.

Courtesy of "The Blaze", we find this story of FEMA malice or stupidity:
Jefferson County resident Jonathan Stewart said he laughed in shock after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) claimed the house his family lost in the deadly April 27 twister was ‘not unsafe to live in’.
Mr. Stewart, family and his "house":
"Not unsafe to live in"?  I suppose the roof isn't going to fall in on them - it's probably in the next county.  No windows to fall on them either.  Nothing except maybe bird droppings.

Malice or stupidity?  If it's true that "once is an accident, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action", there's more than three of these reported in that Blaze article.  Kinda reminds me of the story about Texas being denied aid for their fires.  Which means both of these are probably purely political decisions.

  1. I'm going to sound like a bigot here, but this fellow and his family are not black. If they were black, Obama and Holder would surely state that living in the Taj Mahal would be unsafe, and insist upon a Pigford-sized settlement that would enable this family to recover from the suffering they had experienced.

FEMA, late to the party in NO, dug deep into the coffers to house and feed the diaspora from that city. I believe said diaspora was generally of one specific minority. As FEMA is now a function of a racially divisive administration, people expecting assistance - or even fair-handedness - from the agency who are not black are SOOL (sh*t out of luck.)

This is happening with great enough frequency, it makes me seriously concerned that this administration sees encouraging racial conflict as part of its strategy in bringing socialism and stringent governmental control to America. No logical, thinking individual will blame blacks for this, but when TSHTF, Holder's and Obama's reverse racism will be the cause of distrust and division between people who _need_ to be working together. Not driven apart by the likes of Wright, Jackson, Sharpton, and Holder. (To be fair, Obama's preferred people are muslims, not necessarily black.)

As an aside, I was spoke at length today with a conservative (Independent) black friend of mine who lives nearby, here in Western Montana. He asked why no one has mentioned Condoleezza Rice as a potential candidate, perhaps as VP. We both agreed she would bring strong foreign policy experience to someone weak there, like Sarah Palin. Rice has always seemed to me to be possessed of integrity and honesty, and is a tough lady. Palin/Rice, Bachmann/Rice, West/Rice all sound like possible winners to me. What do you think?

  2. "I spoke at length". Sheesh. I need to edit my text with more care.

  3. I like Condi Rice a lot. The lady is a genius - provost at Stanford, concert pianist, IIRC, her PhD was in Soviet relations. Just about as ideal for the job as you get.

I get the feeling she hates politics, though. I mean, actually having to run for office, kiss babies, hang out with media slime, put up with the kind of crap they've been giving Sarah Palin. The work of day to day politics. I don't think you could get her to run. Which is too darned bad.

  4. Sure can't blame her. She would't catch anywhere near the heat Palin has, but I can sure sympathize. Campaigning has to be one of the most distasteful things you could do. I mean, besides sharing a room with Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and Schumer. (Now, if I could share a room with them while wearing the proper kind of vest . . .)

If she could only be convinced the country needs her that badly. I wonder if Palin or Bachmann could convince her?

  5. I'm fond of saying: Never attribute to stupidity that which usually works to your opponent's advantage.

But the "three times is enemy action" bit has a nicer ring to it.

And it doesn't have to be malice to not be stupidity.

  6. BS - malice and stupidity are not mutually exclusive. It's sure possible to be both evil and stupid - that's probably the most common combination.
