What If The Answer Isn't What People Think?

The consensus of commenters on the story about a coming race war was that it's really here now.  As Francis Porretto puts it, "It's On".   You should read it.  A commenter links to Vox Popoli and his comment on the killing of "Shorty" Belton.  There's much in both places to contemplate.

As I've said before,
This may shock some people, but I don't really believe there is such a thing as race.  I believe there are nationalities, and people from different areas of the world look different, but those differences are superficial and go away as cultures blend.

Most variation is within, not between, "races." Of the small amount of total human [DNA] variation, 85% exists within any local population, be they Italians, Kurds, Koreans or Cherokees. About 94% can be found within any continent. That means two random Koreans may be as genetically different as a Korean and an Italian.  No matter how different you think the Italian and Korean look from each other.
While I don't believe in race, race isn't necessary for there to be race war.  It goes without saying cultures are real and can bring real problems with them.  Cultures can be more powerful than biology; where is a poor child with African ancestry more likely to become a world-leading brain surgeon, in a house with culture expecting - demanding - achievement, or in a house that allows any behavior?  In the 1950s, the black and white illegitimacy rates were essentially the same, about 20%.  Now black children are only born to a married couple 20% of the time.  Several researchers say this is a direct result of redistribution policies that reward broken families and out of wedlock births.  The single biggest determinant of whether a child will grow up in poverty is if the parents stay married, and poverty links to all bad outcomes in life that I know of.  I wrote last December:
One of the most stunning facts in the culture of dependency is how out of wedlock births changed over time from the world I grew up in.  Anyone remember the lyrics to "Love Child" by the Supremes?  "No child of mine will be bearing, the name of shame I've been wearing"?  It was not something to be proud of.  In today's decadent culture, it's different: by percentages, out of wedlock births account for more than half of the births in the black and Hispanic communities.  Try using the phrase "shotgun wedding" around someone under about 25, see if they know what it is.
The thug culture that glorifies gangstas, and criminality, along with the destruction of the family by "redistribution" policies, make up the biggest problem.  The murder of in Oklahoma of  Christopher Lane is a perfect example of the thug culture, and has been linked to being a gang initiation rite.
Indeed, a dark picture emerges as one peruses the social media sites teens like these invariably use to brag about themselves and their exploits. Before it was removed, Chauncy Luna’s Facebook page revealed he goes by the alias Baby Drake. It showed photos of him posing with friends, including Edwards, and flashing gang signs. Two pictures on James “Lilbuggy” Edwards’ Facebook page are also quite revealing. One shows a handgun, and several others show staggeringly large sums of cash. Both may be explained by another photo containing hashtags suggesting he was a member of the Crips. There is also a photo of him posing with a shotgun. ”Bitch we up them poles,” Edwards says in the clip, “F— ‘em.”
It's not purely race.  At least one of them was white, so it can't be.  It can be the rotten culture.  I know several black engineers with sterling character who would no sooner engage in that sort of crime than any of us.  Cultural problems can explain many things: why is achievement so limited in some populations?  Is it a genetically low intelligence or that the culture doesn't reward it, so intelligence is never selected for in reproduction?

One of the big debates of the 20th century was the effects of "nature vs. nurture".  I've always believed the answer to that question was "both".  A good nurture can get the best out of any gift of nature, but a bad nurture can ruin any nature.

do take the time to review the claims made.

    enlightening.

    and disturbing.

having lived in the ghetto - this explains much.

  2. Solely addressing out of wedlock births, a guy I work with and his very long time girlfriend just had another kid. They are not legally married.

They both work full time, and make decent money (around 40k each in real rough numbers) and have full health insurance at either/both employers. They live together, have for a while, and will continue to do so in the house they own.

Changing nothing else, but getting legally married will cost them $5000-$7000 per year in tax penalties. They ran the numbers and a 10% net income hit was enough to make that easy math for them. They won't be getting married. The taxing power of the state has made marriage a losing proposition.

    1. This is actually a topic that's a mile deep. Society is being changed by the leftists at extreme speed and we just don't know how long relationships like the one in that Heritage article are going to hold. I think they'll hold, but I sure don't know.

A lot of men are avoiding marriage just as they're avoiding college since the "chickification" of school has punished boys for learning like boys and only rewarded girls for learning like girls. In any dispute in a marriage, a man has virtually no rights; the legal system has been set up to give women almost 100% control in domestic matters. If a single woman chooses to abort a child, she has that right up until the moment the baby is born. In other words, whether it's a baby or "mass of tissue" is strictly her decision. A guy has no rights in that situation at all. If a single guy should get a woman pregnant, he has no say so in whether she keeps it or not. If she keeps it against his will, he will usually be ordered to support the child. If she aborts it against his will, he has absolutely no recourse.

Because marriage and family has been the foundation of society, and such a strong part of western culture, the leftists had to destroy it in order to make the state supreme. "It takes a village", not families. They are succeeding.

  3. I also know several black Engineers that are some of the finest people I've ever met.

My Doctor is black, and one of the most intelligent people I've ever met in my life.

And I've worked with a few (sadly, TOO few) young black men who were tired of the thug life, and had turned their lives around, getting an education, and moving up in their field.

It's much more than a "black thing".

  4. While true your points miss the point. All of Hitlers henchmen were not blue eyed blond Aryans either. What matters is not just the thug culture but the many people who self identify with a specific race who are being pandered to by race pimps who have to hype the anti-black belief to keep the blacks voting the right way and in line. This year they are killing whites in retribution for Trayvon Martin next year the race pimps will appear in a different town pimping a different case and more retribution will follow that as well. It is time the victims of this black on white violence take the race pimps to court.

    1. I didn't miss your point. I couldn't agree more. I have a black grand daughter and her family who I see and spend time with on a regular basis. I have two 1/4 Indian children. I spent 20 years in the military and knew, worked with and enjoyed many friends who were black, hispanic or some other minority. I am heartsick over the possibility of some on either side of the color line choosing to ramp this situation up. BUT! I am not blind either. In this country about 78%-82% of all murders are committed by blacks. About 13% to 15% are committed by hispanics. Only 4% to 6% are committed by whites who make up about 75% of the population. This is indeed a problem of the thug culture BUT a problem of the thug culture in the black and hispanic community. Statistically as a white man I am 48 times more likely to be murdered by a black person then a white person. I cannot get on the bandwagon that says this is NOT racial. It shouldn't be, we may well live in the least racist country in the world with the most opportunities for people of color. It wasn't always that way but it is today and has been for longer then these young thugs have been alive. But instead of getting better it is getting worse and the ONLY reason I can see to explain that is that it is too valuable to the race pimps and Democrats to allow it to end. Race and racism MUST be promoted or they lose their power. Until we can fix THAT problem and turn around the thugocracy I won't be taking any night time walks in black nieghborhoods and won't go to many really dangerous nieghborhoods day or night. My safety (and your and everyones) requires we understand the racial component of this problem.
