In the World of the High Tech Redneck, the Graybeard is the old guy who earned his gray by making all the mistakes, and tries to keep the young 'uns from repeating them. Silicon Graybeard is my term for an old hardware engineer; a circuit designer. The focus of this blog is on doing things, from radio to home machine shops and making all kinds of things, along with comments from a retired radio engineer, that run from tech, science or space news to economics; from firearms to world events.
Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman from the 70s TV show - with a rifle. I can't tell if that's a Garand or not, but there's not much detail. Bad angle. Experts?
Not an expert, but if you go in along the beltline from her lasso, there's a bright knob. Looks too big to be the charging handle of a Garand, more likely a bolt handle.
1903 Springield - you can see the bolt handle if you look at it with magnification and the strap connections look right for that model. Have to get mine out of the safe to check for more clues.
I don't recall enough about the TV show, but IMDB said it was based in WWII, not WWI like the movie. That rules in a Garand, but doesn't rule out an '03 Springfield. A k98 Mauser? I don't know, but I'd think they'd have Wonder Woman with an American gun. Unless the prop master doesn't know and doesn't care.
Like Erin said, you can clearly see the knob of a bolt gun near her waist, just below the bottom of the gold thing (belt?). So I think I'm with Terrapod and Tom Murin: '03 Springfield. It's a bolt gun, and I'm guessing a 1903 Springfield would be appropriate for the show.
Like Tom said, a Springfield 1903A3. You can see the bulge of the stamped floor plate. But the picture linked by Miguel gives a bit more info. Looks like a 1903 handguard. The 03A3 handguard covers the barrel up to the front receiver ring. The one in the photo shows barrel in the area normally occupied by the rear sight on a 1903. Perhaps a cobbled together hollyweird prop gun.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I see the knob of a bolt-action handle right at her waistline, so I don't think it's a Garand.
ReplyDeleteShould be an Springfield 1903A3.
ReplyDeleteNope, not an Garand.
ReplyDeleteIt's maybe a Mauser k98.

ReplyDeleteNot the best angle, but nice rack all the same.
Here is a link to a bigger pic.

ReplyDeleteMost likely correct. After all, they wouldn't want their star to accidentally shoot herself or one of the other stars with a REAL gun...
DeleteWhat Ownerus said. The floorplate is a dead giveaway.
DeleteI see a couple of cannons.....
