Florida's Governor's Race Goes Full Retard

It's not fair to say it went full retard today; it went full retard when Evil Party candidate Andrew Gillum was announcing his platform.  Courtesy of Gun Free Zone watching the Twitter feed, we find:

That's full retard.  Of course he'd raise taxes on Floridians.  If you're not nodding in agreement, repeat after me: corporations do not pay taxes - their customers do.  Corporations don't have a penny that doesn't come from their customers.  If the costs go up due to new taxes they can do only a couple of things: make less money or raise prices are at the top of that short list.  Most will raise prices to pass on the cost and their customers pay the tax.

Divemedic over at Confessions of a Street Pharmacist did the kind of number crunching a real reporter should do (but apparently none will) and showed this is the worst kind of deliberate lying.  If the state did exactly what he's saying, we'd run a $64.2 billion deficit.  The state can't.  Medicare for all would bankrupt the state.

Of course, raising everyone's taxes and bankrupting the state might be a feature, not a bug to someone Bernie Sanders endorsed.

You know, I've never seen this movie, but I think I will.

  1. I don't know whether to jump for joy over the full retard, or start digging a basement so I can go hide in the basement if it gets worse.

Can't believe this cross between a horse and a donkey won.

He'll win if he manages to sweet-talk Disney and carve them a big old exemption.

  2. Charge this candidate with criminal fraud much like Bernie Madoff was, then put him in prison until there's evidence he won't reoffend.

Granting sovereign immunity to government employees and job seekers is volunteering to be a chattel or debt slave. That's not a pro-survival strategy.

  3. I should add - in case you haven't read this elsewhere - Gillum is already under investigation for various corruption charges in Tallahassee during his time as mayor.

The bad news is he's being investigated by the FBI, and due to the problems at the HQ level lately, I trust them about as far as I can throw their headquarters building.

  4. Expecting any sort of honest and forthright investigation of a Democrat candidate from the FBI is like expecting a coin from the tooth fairy when you're sixty years old.

Gillum is a typical Democrat politician. His logic is as sound as Bernie Sanders' - or any communist. If the people of Florida elect him, you can only hope that the legislature will block his agenda.

  5. I'm lazy this morning:

Surely you understand that every Media outlet in Florida will support Gillum wholeheartedly. As will the Koch-sucking Rove Republican crowd like Jeb! and Little Marco. Mr. DeSantis has an uphill battle on his hands.

Copied and pasted from "90 Miles From Tyranny".

I had actually tried to post a longer harangue here first, but it disappeared into the Googleography.

    1. Tropic Thunder - the black guy in that picture from the movie is Robert Downey Jr. (could they do that in today' SJW-charged atmosphere?). There's a character named Alpa Chino. Sounds like a lot of goofy in one place.

    3. Like the others said "Tropic Thunder". Starts out as a send up of the post-nam b.s. genre and ends up with the -- sorry don't want to spoil it. Personally I think it got dissed by the critics because it gored a lot of Hollywood nam-movie sacred cows. Not necessarily Academy Award mat'l, back when it meant something, but I think funny and just good.

  8. I asked one of the Democrat candidates how this plan would be paid for. Here is the conversation:
Dive: Medicare for all would cause Florida alone to run a $64 billion deficit. How are you planning to fund that?

Answer: Good morning. What I would like to see proposed, at the national level, is a Medicare for All option. This option would be a buy-in option, and you would not need to wait until age 65 for eligibility. The buy-in would be on a sliding scale based on income, so it would take into account those now eligible for Medicaid too, which could eliminate the Medicaid system, as those who qualify for Medicaid would now qualify for Medicare for All. All Americans would be eligible to buy into Medicare, just as they would any other insurance policy, so, this buy-in option would offset the cost. Also, the ability to eliminate Medicaid (as they would not qualify for Medicare for All) would eliminate the Medicaid system thereby eliminating all operating costs for Medicaid. Millions of Americans are in need of affordable health care, and this would be a viable option for all Americans. With the buy-in option, and the offset cost funds from Medicaid to the one system Medicare, the funding should be in place. Thank you very much for your question, I appreciate the opportunity to answer.

Dive: Thank you for your reply. So the fees charged to the user would offset some of the cost, with the government picking up the remainder of the cost? What impact would this have on the deficit? Have you done a cost analysis of this proposal?

I will update as I get answers.

    1. Such a well thought out plan. The guy's a fount of wisdom. I haven't seen anything like this since, oh, the last time I saw some street con men running a shell game. Keep you distracted so maybe you won't ask annoying questions.

Where do they come up with idiots like this?

    2. Here is the reply I received:

Unfortunately I do not have access to the Congressional Budget Office to run numbers for me :-), and there are conflicting reports on if this will save money or cost money depending on which sources you read. The few things I do know: I believe Americans will join because there are no denials for pre-existing conditions, it is already nationwide and negotiated (and with a larger base they will have more opportunity to negotiate pricing), Medicare administrative costs are 2% as opposed to 17% under private plans, so more of the premium stays in the pool, also private insurance companies spend millions a year on advertising and marketing, once again, out of premiums, which Medicare does not. And, the last thing I do know, if health costs and pharmaceuticals are not reigned in, eventually we will all be broke, something has got to give. I know this from personal experience with my husband's cancer, and the cost of trying to age with dignity for my 98 year-old grandmother. Thank you for taking various points into consideration.

    3. In other words, she is willing to vote to spend money for a plan with no idea how much it will cost, or how it will be funded.

I’m not very optimistic that Ron Disantis will be our new Governor. And Should that Communist Gillum become Florida’s next Governor I can see the Sunshine State and my home of 64 years being transformed into California South. The trends are not encouraging, specifically regarding gun control. With Parkland HS massacre Rick Scott and the Legislature turned against gun owners instantly. A communist would move even faster. I am not willing to surrender my collection to anyone. So for those of us who remain alert to political trends its time to start planning a relocation out of Florida with a plan that I can execute fairly rapidly should the need arise. First To relocate my weapons before they become contraband, and establish a new basecamp in a state that has a low probability of going Communist. I never suspected I would see a communist running for Floridias Governor, but hey- who would have believed Communist Obama would have become our President.

Has anyone else began planning an exodus from Florida should Communist Gillum become Governor? Where is the best area to move to. Anyone know about Americas Redoubt areas?
