A Little Halloween Music

A completely unique arrangement of Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name" by Thomas Zwijsen.  A haunting performance, perfect for this spooky day.

From his double album Nylon Maiden - from playing Iron Maiden on a nylon stringed guitar.

I'm not quite sure how many parts he plays in that video.  The video description says "arranged for two guitars", but at times it sounds like four or five.  It's not uncommon to hear someone playing classical guitar and think there has to be more than one person to generate that much music, but in this case we can watch him playing one part and see his hand motions don't go with the music.  Then they'll show video from another track where hands and music do match.

Enjoy your evening.

  1. I always dial up the home theater to a YouTube Halloween channel and let it blast while the kiddies come to get their treats.

Always make a good impression on the visitors....

  3. Like Irish, I will be listening to more songs.

I suggest that Sungha Jung’s guitar work is worth your time.

    1. Of those three, the 2CELLOS guys are the only ones I've heard before.

There are millions of excellent musical videos on YouTube. If you like the classics, Liona Boyd is one of the greats. Here's Liona playing Gymnopedie #1 by Erik Satie, and the Spanish standard Malaguena

When I was a high school senior, I went to see Carlos Montoya in Miami. Already almost 70, he was considered the world's greatest living flamenco guitarist, though not at his prime, and his arrangement of the same piece is still the one I consider the high bar. I didn't spend much time looking for that, and I'm not sure it's the best on the Tube.
