I went and took the little political test he linked to yesterday, and it said:
I don't know what it means, but I think it means, "my ideal candidates never, ever win".You are a: Objectivist Libertarian Non-Interventionist Nationalist Reactionary
Collectivism score: -83%
Authoritarianism score: -67%
Internationalism score: -17%
Tribalism score: 33%
Liberalism score: -67%
I'm not sure what this means either, I think it's a fairly close description:

I came out as Left-Leaning Libertarian Total-Isolationist Nationalist Reactionary
ReplyDeleteThe left leaning part is from my economic nationalism not from larger lefty ideals I guess.
The rest is pretty accurate.
Conservative Libertarian Non-Interventionist Nationalist Liberal-
ReplyDeleteI interpret that as a bunch of mumbo-jumbo!
Amusing review though. Enjoy your blog always!

Looks as if I'm tribal-er than thou! A little less anti-collectivist, but more anti-authoritarian. We are equally illiberal.
Scary how many people rush like bugs to a fire to fill out detailed questionnaires about their inner psyches. I wonder how many ISP employees in between the test and the test-taker are watching and taking notes.
ReplyDeleteBe not afraid. You're in good company. It labeled me an Ideologue Dreamer Radical Muffin-Gorging Reactionary.
ReplyDelete(I mean, I'm willing to cop to some of that, but really!)
Francis - you owe me a monitor. Or at least a cleaning wipe.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the +/- scale. It suggest a bias towards splitting the cultural differences rather than attempting to be objective.
ReplyDeleteWould do a Zero thru 100 myself.
The multidimensional is rational though.
The very fact that a political/nationalist/collectivist question is asked suggest possible axis as American left-right axis does - the first axis I would propose is
Collectivism - How much should the individual show 'deference' to the whole over the individual?
This is independent of the enforcement mechanism - you don't play ball are you merely personally shunned/boycotted or does the whole assess fines/confinement (or exile)/corporal punishment/death?
Bringing us to -
Authoritarianism - How does the whole punish the individual for recalcitrance? If jaywalking an escalate to being taken into custody under threat/action of lethal force, that is 100%.
Going beyond reasonable in an age of reason -
Theocracy - how do we separate that axis? Blue Laws, arbitrary and capricious for some higher call. Cannot sell alcohol on Sunday, or Friday, does that sound kosher, Saturday too...
Nationalism -
Transnationalism -
Imperialism -
Socialism -
Not a bad concept to make a multi-dimensional political map, just need to lay out the rues before.

I'm not sure how I missed -100% on authoritarianism. Excuse the crudeness, but I differ slightly from Fran
